Wisdom Tree Education
A bilingual alternative educational programme
Wisdom Tree Education is a home educational centre where families, children and professionals come together in one space for the purpose of learning and socialization.
In a fully bilingual French-English atmosphere, children and parents are supported by a team of dedicated professionals to provide a high-quality learning environment.
Welcome to our unique learning environment
Our centre is a place where fulfilment, discovery and learning intertwine harmoniously. We, as parents, have come together to set up the centre as a ‘not-for-profit’ entity offering an alternative ‘home schooling’ (instruction en famille) learning experience for our children striving for excellence, taking into account each child’s special qualities, aspirations and physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs.
At Wisdom Tree Education, every child is unique, able to develop fully at their own pace while exploring the world around them. Our goal is to help you transform homeschooling into an exciting and rewarding adventure that allows your child to learn, grow and achieve their maximum potential. It is the role of parents and professionals alike to guide, support and develop the children’s character, creativity, social skills, motivation, critical thinking, understanding and knowledge. Together, we organise activities and prepare teaching and learning opportunities using sensory learning equipment and techniques in a rich linguistic environment that encourages bilingualism. Although each child is seen as an individual, we organise our learning around two phases, children aged 4 to 6 and those over 6.
Our vision
We aim to nurture love of learning, curiosity and self-awareness in our children by providing an environment that supports educational excellence with focused activities built around investigation, learning through play and social development.
We utilise a synergistic pedagogical approach rooted in traditional methods such as Montessori, story-telling, nature-based spiritual and sporting activities. We incorporate the research-based benefits of multilingualism, mindfulness, daily outdoor activities, and low teacher-student ratio limited to 1:7, to maximize neuro-development. All our pupils are certified as home-schoolers allowing them to follow child-centric learning.
Children aged 4 to 6
For this group, we adopt the proven and well-known Montessori method, adapted to suit our specific needs. This method involves structuring learning and teaching around the children’s natural interests and activities. Our learning environment at this stage emphasises ‘hands on’ learning and the development of practical ‘real world’ skills. Learning is fun. We encourage active learning through play, games practical work and sport. All of this takes place in a rich bilingual environment.
Children aged over 6
As children move beyond 6 years old, ‘hands on’ and ‘active learning’ continues but with greater emphasis on observation and the practical application of concepts. Learning takes place through outings, workshops, experiments and investigation.
Our facilities
We are located in the picturesque commune of Pully, south east Lausanne, a 5-minute walk from the lake. Our centre is equipped with full Montessori materials that emphasise hands-on learning, designed to stimulate the children’s natural interest. Our teachers are fully qualified native English and French speakers trained in Montessori and related child-centred teaching methods.
Our learning activities are not limited to the classroom. We take advantage of local parks, the lake, play areas, public facilities such as the excellent local pools, museums, wildlife excursions and the numerous walking and hiking trails.
We provide a large sister chalet at the foot of Verbier (Le Chable), to facilitate winter skiing and sledging activities, with qualified multi-lingual instructors. We provide a dedicated children’s martial arts instructor to foster agility and self-discipline.
