Wisdom Tree education

A safe and secure space for children to grow and develop
We have zero tolerance for bullying. At Wisdom Tree, everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The development of positive relationships is the basis for encouraging good behavior and character. This is a fundamental principle of our center.
Small group work
The adult/child ratio is very low. There is a maximum of six children per group. Our teaching and learning activities are planned around cooperative learning strategies. This approach differs from conventional group work in that it emphasizes "cooperation" and interdependence. We use Montessori materials that often lend themselves to group work.
High quality learning environment
We are a warm, family-oriented school. The learning environment reflects a home setting while offering rich learning opportunities. There is always an experienced professional on hand to guide and support the learning process. Children learn best when they feel comfortable and are challenged. The Wisdom Tree Center offers both the stimulation of rich learning activities and the comfort and safety of a family environment.
Individualised learning programmes
Activities are planned for groups, but each child's journey is planned and assessed according to his or her specific needs, skills, current level of knowledge and personal interests. A personal learning plan is drawn up for each child.
The role of parents at Wisdom Tree Education
Wisdom Tree Education is not a school. We are here to support and guide parents in the home schooling of their children. Parents retain the responsibility for educating their children. If they choose to join us at Wisdom Tree Education, they expect us to provide a rich learning environment. This is a partnership. Although there are opportunities for parents to be actively involved in the teaching and learning, there are set times where the activities are planned on the basis that the children will be left at the centre. At other times, the parents can plan and lead the home schooling activities using the centre’s resources.
The role of specialists at Wisdom Tree Education
The professionals at Wisdom Tree Education provide guidance and expertise. They have chosen specific resources to encourage investigation, learning and fun. In partnership with the parents, we develop personalised learning plans. While the children are at the Centre, the professionals lead and assess the learning and can offer advice and support for teaching and learning that takes place away from the centre.
